Benjamin Wallfisch Becomes New Music Director
"The Philharmonia, playing at the top of its form, is brilliantly conducted by Benjamin Wallfisch. If I hear a greater record of Shostakovich's music this year, I shall be astonished." Robert Matthew-Walker, International Record Review Born in London in 1979, his teachers include Anthony Gilbert, Michael Finnissy, James MacMillan, Sir Charles Mackerras and Vernon Handley. He graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with First Class Honours and the Royal Academy of Music with the highest distinction and is the first composer to be awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Academy as well as every Academy composition prize. He was recently elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. Benjamin will be conducting our Festival Symphony in three performances on July 11, 14 and 20th. Read more on Benjamin Wallfisch
